About Us
Blaenllain Stud was started by our parents
Brian & the late Peta Jones. They mainly provided riding ponies for
myself to ride. We were lucky enough to have the support from my
Grandmother 'Bobbie' and family friend 'Vernon', Tina & I are still
lucky to have the continued support from Vernon and my partner Wayne
which allows us to continue showing, and Bobbie on the end of the phone
line for added support & advice.
We are a small family run stud, living
about 4 miles from the cost in Wales. We live in a peaceful area
surrounded by beautiful views. It is our aim to breed quality all
rounders rather than quantity.
The mares that we are using are have all got excellent
temperament's as well as very good movement, correct conformation and
jumping ability. Combine that with our own stallion we are hoping to
breed really good all rounder's with the quality to compete to top
level. All the stock by our own stallion "Blaenllain Doodleba" will be
eligible to be registered as Part bred Arab & Welsh Part Bred. Even
as youngsters they will have the opportunity to compete in quite a
number of classes at each show, including PBA, WPB, SHP, Riding horse
breeding/ Pony breeding classes.
We feel that keeping & competing horses can be very
expensive so we wanted to breed horses that we could do many things
with, with the percentage of Welsh & Arab blood we are breeding
stock that both my sister Tina and I can enjoy. Tina enjoys the in hand
side while I enjoy showing under saddle, show jumping, working hunter,
eventing etc. We both also enjoy doing 10 to 20 mile social rides
through mountains & forests.
A large amount of the time I spend working with the
horses on my own, we also have the help from our family friend Vernon
who is now a pensioner. So a laid back temperament, trainability and
good manners is of the most importance.
