Blaenllain Doodleberry

Description

My special girl who started Bart & the stud of recent years off for me. Doodle had given me some fantastic memories and experiences. Doodle is by the well known TB stallion OLD LUCKY, who also sired Mary King’s International eventer KING SOLOMON III.

I competed Doodle in affiliated show jumping, and although only 15hh she has such lovely paces that she was able to cover the ground and make the distances with enough scope to her jump to be able to cope in the seniors. We just started doing well in Newcomers and moving up to Foxhunter and small opens, (in the days where you went in at Newcomers level) she also won horse trials before she had to retire from jumping due to hurting her back while cast in the stable.

She then turned to showing where she really excelled both inhand and under saddle up to International level both on her own and as a broodmare. In the year we were hit by the foot and mouth and nothing much was on, so it was decided to put Doodle in foal to a stallion that was standing locally a lovely show stallion Ali Nebal. We wanted to use a Arab so that we could show in Part Bred Arab and Part Bred Welsh. We felt this would give the offspring the opportunities to compete both in hand and under saddle, in flat, jumping and performance. With horses being expensive enough we aimed to breed a true all rounder with the temperament to be a honest and trainable, the quality to show at top level and the ability to be able to perform and stay sound with lots of jobs to do. We bred exactly what we wanted, and in 2002 the arrival of BLAENLLAIN DOODLEBA, BART!! and there the story continues, as Bart is now our stallion standing at stud here in Wales and the sire to all our progeny. Bart is one of the only stallions of his height, that no matter what mare he goes on, the offspring can be registered Welsh Part bred & Part Bred Arab and in some cases also with the NPS. Bart is available by AI and we are hoping to freeze some semen.

Doodle only had 4 foals, she had Bart, then went on to have Blaenllain Doodles Beaujolais (Sweetpea) by Marbon Beaujolais, Sweetpea is still with me but it is with regret that she is now sadly for sale,
Blaenllain Doodle Dawz, who was by Dawz Firebird and sold as a youngster, she also had Blaenllain Cardinals Dream (Ozzy), by Phariz, who has gone on as a top class endurance horse.

Doodle has been a great mare and I have a lot to thank her for, she has taught and given me so much.
